OMG. This is by far one of my favorite perfumes! And I honestly can't believe it. It literally cost 15ish from Amazon. I pick up notes of vanilla, musk, light coconut, and much more. It has layers!! It's strange, because when I first applied it, I wasn't so sure if I liked it or not. The scent just gradually changes ( if that makes sense) It grew on me within minutes and l can't stop wearing it!!! Only 2 sprays needed; it's heavy, concentrated. I am impressed, especially because it's literally an Avon perfume!!!

gzbnyz

It smells very spicy and ambery in the beginning, then it settles down to a jasmine vanilla sandalwood with a little less amber. Its heavy. im not usually into orientals however this one is beautiful. smells a bit like 90s which i dont have a problem with

Aeternitas

I've read about this being a dupe for Ghost's Deepest Night (very hard to find), so I bought a sample.
Unfortunately, it doesn't compare. I can see where the two are *similar*, sure... but this is simply not a stand-in for Deepest Night.
Coming from that perspective, Far Away is already disappointing lol. Was hoping for an a-ha moment!

Aside from comparison, Far Away is so/so. It's a decent sweet, musky cheapie.
I see that I'm not the only one who gets headaches from this. I'm usually pretty resilient, but this is absolutely unwearable to me because of the headache it gives me, which is saying something because I DO like heavy fragrances. Far Away isn't even really "strong" in its notes... it's the general feel that is cloying.
Well, really... "cloying" is an understatement. It's like an angry woman is trying to strangle me with her heavily fragranced mixed wool sweater.
Or, like I'm being assaulted with coconuts in a flower bed.
Violent but soft, haha! This perfume is such a paradox.

The longer I wear it, the more I hate it.
Sorry to those who find it nostalgic or comforting.
For me, it's a VERY hard pass.

jreyes366

I love this, and so do other people! I concede with all the others who say this is a compliment magnet. You will get compliments from men, women, children, and non binary people. It might be an acquired taste to some.

Füruzan

It is a classical with rich layers of scents. That's why you need to be patient about the revealing of each tones. Tropical fruity and floral in a very good price.

lauronaut

very distinct. the sweetness and vanilla bring a lot of nostalgia - my mum used to wear this.

IkaIkuw

This was a nostalgia buy - I remember having a sample of this perfume when I was in elementary school and thinking it's the most beautiful scent in the world. I don't think I can wear it now, I guess the violet is too much for me, but I can see where my taste in perfumes started. If I ever get a day where I don't meet with anyone, I might do a longer test on skin to check if the violet smooths out.

natalka999

I used to love this in high school. It smells very unique - like sweet coconut and vanilla. THIS THING IS LIKE THE MOST LASTING PARFUM I HAVE next to Alien. It lasts on clothes weeks. Like you put your sweater to a dresser take it out 2 months later and you smell it.

juliajulianna

This is a timeless classic. I honestly started using it when I was a teenager and always got compliments from boys (later men) so not really “old lady scent” but even if then so be it! I’m in my late twenties and this piece still is and will always be on my shelf! It’s incredibly strong and sensual.

felicite34

Reminder - can we stop with the ageist comments about certain fragrances smelling like elderly? It's just rude and hurtful. Enough. Comments such as these are all over these forums. If you are commenting on associations with a family member, that is acceptable, can't deny your memories... But there are many that need to be more considerate and creative in the reviews please. Thank you.

I was at the store smelling candles when a gentleman told me I was the best smelling thing in the aisle. There hasn’t been a day of wear I haven’t been complimented by strangers of all ages on this fragrance.

A sillage monster and a vintage masterpiece. Slightly scratchy and aldehydic at first, reminds me of YSL’s Libre for a moment, then warms up to this buttery soft floral mishmash of nonsense. I adore it. I could never pick out each note listed individually-to summarize-this would be a warm and creamy vanilla sandalwood with whispers of jasmine and ylang ylang. By the end of her wear, peach skin and coconut milk.

Far Away is not a jasmine perfume, it is not a peach perfume, it is not coconut perfume. It is, like I said, a warm, powdery, sweet, milky mishmash that I will be drenching myself in all winter. Far away is smooth, rounded, vintage and feminine; much like the bottle it comes in.

My mom wore this in the 90’s to go with her dark hair, fur lined leather jacket, and Rum Raisin lipstick. I adore this comforting, hidden-in-plain-sight, darling little fragrance.

absoluteLHerb

I really wanted to love this again, I used to wear mum's back in the early 2000's. I bought it recently and it smelled like I remembered but caused me to have intense headaches. So sad, gave it to a friend!

Goddess Essence

Spicy vanilla amber sandalwood coconut powdery Vintage Beauty BOMB. I love this beauty so much it's one of my ultimate top picks in perfume fragrances. Very long lasting sillage monster. Perfect fall winter scent or any season in moderation. I love the sweet spicy delicious notes in this, unlike any other. I do not like sweet frags normally, yet I LOVE this. Did not love it at first about a decade ago but began going crazy over this a few years ago hormones, I guess. Now there is a note popping out of it--same bottles so just me--that gives me a headache so cannot wear it much anymore. Yet I still love it. I replaced it with the Far Away Gold as my signature scent. I sometimes mix the FA Gold and Infinity together and it makes a very Close if not better and smoother copy that I can wear with no headache note of this original version. I also find the FA Gold sprayed over Avon Odyssey perfume is also almost exactly the same scent and just as strong as the pre-reformulated Far Away.

Let me add this; as much as I love Far Away, it's just not as good to ME as Far Away Gold in many aspects. FA smells 'unfinished' next to the Gold to me now like there is something missing in it. If you love FA but cannot wear it due to the headache factor, /the bad note hits my pineal gland hard/ try FA Gold it is richer, stronger in sillage /now/ and much more lasting and wearable compared to the reformulated FA original fume. FA Gold to me is the 'thicker' classier fuller more opulent version of FA. I've gotten tons of compliments on it btw from men and women. It is very pleasant and long lasting as well. Also, FA Gold DID NOT get reformulated because it did not have to. It was already a NATURAL PERFUME WITH ONLY 3 INGREDIENTS. The shelf life says only 2 years for this fume, but I have had a bottle opened for 5 years it only gets deeper and richer and better with time. Now some people may not like the Gold, but I prefer it to the original now. Regardless of the headache note in original FA.

Marta_Regina

I simply adore. Sweet, warm, embracing, and classic. Timeless elegance. Quality far beyond the price range. Long lasting for the whole day. I like a touch of vintage as they were designed in 90s. This is how I remember those times. Simple, elegant, a little bit heavy, not shouting.

Viper365

Its spicy and exotic, it's also not overly sweet as vanilla tends to be. It has a comforting classiness, if that makes sense. I wore it once and everyone came up to me to tell me I smelled like their mom, ironically I got it from my mom.

KELLAIAH

it honestly smells like old ladies && whats crazy is that an older lady gifted it to me too. Terrible powdery scent that reminds me of a care home, very gross tbh.

amandavolpe

A bit boozy. The vanilla here is the baked good, artificial essence kind. On my skin the coconut really shines through.

Agree with those who mention a baby wipe note, but it does fade after a couple of hours. It is the least appealing aspect of this fragrance, whereas I'd say the biggest upside is the longevity. Far Away lasts all day long on skin, even with just a couple of spritzes.

However, it's not the most unique scent and I've definitely smelt it many times on other people on the street.

stillalive

This is a reasonably pleasant scent, especially if you like soft vanillas. However, I can't get past a few issues. 1. It reminds me of my grandma who probably wore this at some point. 2. I get a strong baby wipe note in this and many of its flankers. 3. This is definitely a colder weather scent, and I live in an almost tropical climate. I actually really like the deodorant, though, and I think it pairs well with several of my favorite scents like Whispers in the Library and Orchid Soleil.

deadxxxmoon

This fragrance is reminiscent of a classic Lancôme perfume but make it affordable.
I definitely smell the amber and warm sweetness - like mulled wine. I’ll wait for the rest of the notes to set in.

But it’s currently summer and like many on here, think this perfume will shine best in cold temperatures.

selinacat

This smells exactly the same as Roberto Cavalli EDP. I couldn't believe it. That's already a bargin, so this feels like a cheaper version of that, but it's still excellent.

GUADELUPA

It's very nice vanilla scent. It is similar to Far Away Gold, but this one is softer. Longevity and sillage is good enough. I can smell it all day long on my clothes. A very warm fragrance of vanilla, coconut and ylang-ylang. I can smell also a slight bitterness here, which I love in perfumery, like Poem by Lancome. Yes, Poem and Far Away have the same honey notes. You may like it or hate it, but this is a remarkable time-proved scent by Avon.

Chrisandra

OMG what a beast!
Definitely for colder temperatures when it can really develop and shine.
If you want to improve sillage and longevity, you can layer it with other Far Away flankers, such as Glamour or Beyond.
The result is an absolutely spectacular and expensive-smelling potion.

Raven NessRavenous

It is 2023. Avon is giving away “Far Away” with purchases of other perfumes. I wore Far Away occasionally about in 2012 and got compliments but I was wearing it in the summer and found it too strong. I wanted a vanilla coconut scent for summer but it was in the same strength and family to me as “Vanilla Fields”: very 90s strong musky vanilla. I am more accustomed to softer vanilla body sprays. I thought it was too dated and strong for my tastes (I am a Haiku lover and Far Away is opposite.) Perhaps it will do better in winter but living in the south, it never gets cold enough for a sillage beast so I will most likely give away the free bottle, which I still appreciate that Avon gives away perfumes.

Atomikbomb_

My mom had some of my late grandma's Far Away stored away, and gave me it for a keepsake, she said I should have it because I'm more of a "sniffer".This review is going to be colored by nostalgia and emotion, so if that isn't for you, please disregard this.

I can't love this on me personally, it's not my style and it's too...*something* for my taste, however, I'll always love this fragrance regardless of that. When I smell this, I get rolling waves of heartache, I miss my grandma so much, her clothes were always permeated in this scent. It was her. I'm also very, very much comforted and at ease, I feel tension physically drain from my body while I smell this.

It's ylang ylang dominant to me, and smells of powdery coconut with an oldschool floral bouquet...and vanilla. Lots of vanilla. It has a dusty quality, yet, I don't dislike smelling it. The coconutty woods are very dried, and this has texture of baby powder. Yet, there's something about this that is also comforting and soothing to the heart, and it actually is both striking me from memory, but also purely from the scent's personality too! It's warm and smells very soft, pastel yellow. It smells like plushy blankets in winter, as a relief against the cold. I don't smell some of the florals listed here, yet I do smell mimosa, which isn't.

I cannot report about newer formulations, but I'm sorry it's been reformulated from what I'm using now. I'm especially sorry if you also have memories with it, it's a shame when that happens.

There truly is a matronly quality to this perfume, it smells so much like a kindly woman, someone who moves gracefully, it's soothing.

I cannot untangle this from my emotional responses, but I also think my grandma wore this because of the character Far Away embodies and the tone of it. It suited her perfectly, and she had at least a few perfumes, but nobody remembers much beyond this because she wore it exclusively for years. She was a soft, feminine, exceptionally kind and loving woman.

My mom made me promise I wouldn't use it up, and I emphatically agree not to. I'm not sure I could aquire this again, it's too precious to us, and I'm only applying a bit tonight to review, so tonight and tomorrow are special. Maybe I'll wear just a small amount on her birthday sometimes.

Longevity is insane, and the sillage is moderate for a good while until it settles. Then it's virtually a permanent skin scent until you shower, even if you went weeks without one (please don't).

inesita75

Just tested this on my skin from a new batch.
It smells cheap, dated, and NOTHING like the notes listed.
It's a disappointment because I love those notes.

victoriawaterfield

signature scent for an age. the vanilla musk - no joke, complex, powdery. beautiful the longer you leave it LASTS THROUGH THE WASH IT IS £15 MAX WHAT ON EARTH! Only scent I've ever had complimented without said person hugging me. THE SILLIAGE. Was waiting in a waiting room and a girl came in and i recognised the scent almost immediately, she was metres away at the reception desk. GET THE LOTION TOO OMG. As a skin scent it can not be beaten. strong jasmine note, be aware. if you are worrying about the orange then don't - it's not there. was also a lovely home fragrance scent in candles, reed diffusers, there are so many far away products available. The only one i would not recommend is the deodorant - takes forever to dry, bright yellow staining and has a curry and sweat quality? not sure why this is everything else doesn't, legendary base notes.

mystica

Another classic got ruined I guess. I didn't try the new version to be honest, but the reviews aren't bright. I also don't like the new bottle design.

What can be said about Far Away which is not already said?... It's an awesome fragrance! I think one should easily find the original formula online. It lasts for years and gets only better with time. It smells like sweet, fruity wine. It may be the only perfume which is borderline dirty but I can still use safely. It's addictive.

ozlemaksay

20 years ago this perfume was my signature scent. my husband loved it. I don't know how many bottles I finished. I got bored and left. I bought it again recently, but unfortunately it has been reformulated, it is not the same as before. I can't smell vanilla at all, I'm so sorry. please bring back the old far away. the old version was a feminine scent, I can say the current version is unisex

Sweet&Fruity

Honestly, this is one of the oldest Avon perfumes still available to order - and it’s an instantly familiar, divisive scent; you either love it or hate it.

I’ll be honest, I’m in the latter category. It’s oriental. It’s powdery. It’s cloyingly floral, with a horrible synthetic vanilla drydown (and I love vanilla perfumes usually). It instantly evokes late-middle-aged businesswoman with bright red or pink lipstick and frazzled peroxide blonde hair, in a smart suit. I know that’s a weird tie-in, but it’s just what it puts in my mind! It’s very much ‘of its time’, an early 90’s smelling scent, this kind of scent has gone out of fashion over the years, but Avon has continued selling it all these years (whilst discontinuing some of the other amazing scents they’ve had), so it must have its fanbase!

I do get the peach. I do get the almost intoxicating tropical flower vibe. I do get the heavy vanilla drydown. Thrown together, this reminds me of incense. It’s just too ‘old’ for me. It smells musty somehow, like musty washing powder. Unfortunately, sillage and longevity are insane, to the point you instantly know when someone walks past you with this on, that they’re wearing this.

umayy

i like this perfume but i don't wear it cause i find this a bit mature for my age(18) my aunt was wearing this when i was little so it reminds me good things. i have 10 ml bottle of this, just for the reliving good old memories. i would wear if i were a woman at the age of 30-40s in 2000s

Ceevee963

Another reviewer mentioned this and I completely agree - this is a winter tropical scent. I get the vanilla, coconut, ylang ylang and peach for sure. When I smell this on my skin, it gives me the sense of being fluffy, round and soft. I layer the scented body cream with the perfume for a perfect winter bedtime fragrance. Lasts about 5 hours on my skin.

annasarahr121

Avon Far Away is pretty but I just prefer the thickness and intensity of Far Away Gold to this OG Far Away, though the two smell very much alike to my nose. Frankly, I had expected to smell much more coconut in Far Away than I do, which disappointed me because I adore coconut; maybe I was expecting a more "foodie" style coconut because I drink so much coconut milk, use coconut cream in my cooking, and sometimes make Almond Joy-type cookies -- now THAT'S coconutty!!! In addition, the farther drydown of Far Away, is a little pale and lackluster to me, for a vanilla-dominated scent while, again, FA Gold holds together much better. I can see, though, how some folks who find FA Gold to be too strong and/or cloying would enjoy this original much more. I think I'll give this one to my sister who I believe will enjoy love it more than me.

mhubbard1961

Liked it for 2 seconds, then there is something I don't like about the way Avon combines notes. Only exception is LBD

Skinscents4Fusspots

I had this when I was about 13 but had entirely forgotten about it - I recently ordered a 10ml spray and wow…. Such lovely memories! Now this review may be tainted by teenage dreams, but I find this so charming! It’s a classic early 1990s perfume in that it’s a bit synthetic, but not in a bad way (imho!).

This is a warm and powdery, sweet floral with a hint of creamy coconut, a vanilla base and a hint of doll heads. This is what I wanted Dolce Garden to smell like, but that one has something yogurty about it that made me nauseous. Far Away is super cosy and sweet, perfect for cool weather. I’ve ordered a 50ml bottle because I already feel slightly addicted to this one.

It reminds me a bit of Sarah Jessica Parker’s Lovely Lights - not because it smells the same, just in terms of how if makes me feel - that is a creamy sweet floral too…. A bit more natural and not as vanilla sweet, but Far away is even warmer and tbh, the plasticky synthetic vibe just reminds me of toys from my childhood!

It’s not as strong as it used to be and it doesn’t last very long until it becomes a skin scent (I could actually still smell this in the morning if I put my wrist to my nose!) but happily, it’s from an era before all Avon perfumes had the same DNA that I sense in all their modern offerings, so this is likely to remain the only Avon in my collection.

Update! My Husband absolutely loves this one.... he described it as "Delicious"!

DISCONTINUED FRAGRANCE REVIEW
NO.#16 / 10.

All hail Avon's best perfume!

Folks can disagree and that's fine, but I do so enjoy this whole-heartedly.
It's not a typical scent I wear. I mean, this is a HEAVY, powdery, vanilla/sandalwood/amber floriental. It's so many things and doesn't apologise for it.

I wore this because one of my best friends (and housemates!) sold Avon for a while for a little extra cash, so I got the catalogues with wallet-trembling regularity and I ordered this boss. And it is a boss.

The coconut, peach, and ylang ylang is creamy and grown-up.
The florals are all pretty much blended in equal amounts. There's not major dominator here.
The base notes ALL sing out here - there's powdery, heady musk. A confident, sweet vanilla. An almost-lactonic sandalwood, and a warm, resinous amber.

"Far Away" is an apt name for it. It conjures up images of the headiness of incense and powder and vanilla you smell in foreign market alleyways. It's contradictory in its mysteriousness and homeliness. Either way, it's so alluring and warm.

Back home, though - This is a hug and snuggle with your Mum in the mid-90s.
It's comfort and warmth.
It's nostalgic - and unapologetic about it.

Projection is WILD. I take the cap of a 10ml sample and am engulfed. I leave my full bottle hidden at the back of a shelf, so not to gas Hubby Himself.
Longevity also very good. In fact, it's dry-down is kinda heavenly. It becomes a softer, prettier powder while still retaining a basic (in a good way) vanilla and creamy sandalwood.
Fragrantica's display picture of this scent isn't quite what I have, though. Rather than a pink bottle, mine is a frosted yellow-tinted bottle. Not important, but that frosting is a classic characteristic to me.

Does it smell dated? Sure, but that's up to you to decide if that's a bad thing.
For me, it's ace. Like I said, I don't typically wear this scent, but I don't accept NOT wearing it. Like right now. I'm deliciously cozy; engulfed in my cloud here. :)

Repurchase-worthy!

Something like too much ambery. I woul not try this type of parfum again. It might be too boring to wear it like old suit for me. I like bottle. Better for winter nights. Somebody might love this but for me it is finished story

love_crizy

This perfume to me smells exactly like jean paul Gaultier classic woman essence and im shocked no one made that connection yet

sravz

Mma go far far away from it. It has something which makes me sick. Stupid blind buy. If we all add the sum of our bad blind buys we could own a good set of designer perfumes tested and walking away proud from macys or sephora or ulta.

Ninaleen

I’ve loved Avon products my whole life, but couldn’t get on board with their perfumes (except for the really soft one with the pink top; I forget the name). So when this came out back in the 90s, I really didn’t care for it.

Fast forward many many years to this summer of 2022. I was visiting my beloved 94 year old grandmother when I spotted a capless bottle of Far Away on her dresser. She always preferred masculine scents, so I was surprised she was now wearing this one. Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to spray some on my arm. I was blown away!! I didn’t remember it smelling this good.

I was awe-struck at how cozy it is. It’s coconutty, powdery, and sweet, but I don’t feel it’s quite the “crowd pleaser” like Goddess or Good Girl. It is very warm and reminds me of a warm cashmere blanket. I just bought myself a bottle and I am loving it.

Longevity is excellent for the price point. I sprayed it on this morning. It’s 1pm and still going strong. I feel like my skin “eats” perfumes so anything that lasts longer than 3 hours is a huge hit for me.

It also gets points for sillage. One of my coworkers kept asking me what I was wearing this week and that it smelled really good. I thought she was referring to one of the other perfumes I had layered, but today she asked me again and I let her sniff my wrist. It was Far Away.

To boot, it’s very, very affordable.

I appreciate that Avon tends to keep their classics without much tampering.

aslibrn178

I love this perfume its a bold very strong vanilla sent.It lasts for a long time perfect night out fragrance I wouldn’t wear it in summer its to much! Perfect for vanilla powdery winter fragrance

HoneypotBr

This is one of those fragrances that, for me, I love and hate. Sometimes I just hate it and others I need it. Like last night. I was craving that scent in order to sleep. It's been 12 hours now and I can still smell the sweet, comforting undertone on my skin. Where I live the weather is mostly warm, so when we get these 20ºC days, gems such as Far Away can come out and play! I get compliments asking which imported expensive perfume I am wearing, and when people hear it is Avon, they literally look puzzled. Every time! I love that. I love that a so-called cheap fragrance can be so controversial. It smells great on me too. I guess I hate it when it's warm outside and love it when it's cool. It is a gem of a perfume, as is the whole line in Brazil, except Rebel&Diva. Anyway, I will keep on drying up Far Away bottles for as long as I shall live, I am sure.

Tardigrada

One distant winter evening, back in the Nineties I was going through the Avon catalogue that my neighbour has lent me and rubbing the perfumed pages and was absolutely blown away by the page that had Far Away ad on it. It was so mysterious, fuzzy and exotic and felt like the most luxurious thing I have ever smelled back then. I remember rubbing the page to the point of the print coming off, and losing the scent forever. The stuff from the catalogues was unaffordable luxury and I didn't even dare dreaming of owning it.
Many years later I got it for £5, from one of the online discount bargain places half fearful to shatter the magic memory. Far away definitely has a bad reputation with the most cloying of combinations of vanilla, powdery notes, indolic florals (I mean the biggest offenders Jasmine and Ylang-ylang) and not the most subtle kind of musk.
Since I am lately wearing perfume in micro doses, I finally could rediscover the beauty of Far Away and it's soft warm embrace. Whenever I have tested any new perfume I have noticed that in micro doses I coud detect the whole complexity of the composition and could differentiate the development stages. Simply by bypassing the unique ability all of our brains have - to shut down registering the olfactory information that's constantly bombarded from the olfactory receptors to the synapses and to the part in our brain that is registering all of the olfactory information. The official term for this amazing phenomenon is called olfactory fatigue, and it's responsible for people not being able to smell their own perfume if they wear one single signature perfume daily. There's even a myth that a perfume suits you if you don't smell it on yourself. It's also responsible for people exposed to extremely unpleasant smells being able to get used to them to the point of not even being bothered.

Fruzsina Szel

My girlfriend wears this scent so my judgement is a bit impaired but I'm honestly suprised by all the negative comments as I adore this fragrance!
On her its not too sweet at all, it smells like a creamy-powdery peach✨The sillage and longevity are also really good. (Although the more fragrances I try the more convinced I become that that is more dependent on the wearer than on the perfume.)
Nonetheless lovely fragrance💖

VMonster

I blind bought this, and was on the fence about it for a while. I'm happy to say I tried it, but this scent doesn't work for me. I find it sweet, powdery, a bit synthetic and dated, all while being a bit heavy and cloying. I think I was hoping for something a bit creamy with yellow and white florals that could work in summer, knowing this would have a heavy dose of vanilla, but ultimately I think this is a no for me. I can't get past the early-90s "Avon lady" vibe, it is giving me oversized pastel patchwork sweater and puffy permed bangs vibes. Of an era, for sure, but with my collection at its current size I doubt I'll keep her around. Still, contextually, I think it's great to know how I feel about it for reference.

Haiku Reflection was a total win for me, so I don't discount Avon perfumes altogether. They know what's up and I can appreciate fragrances for what they are even if they don't work for me specifically.

Furs&FrAGErence

I just sold a Chloe Narciss vintage that I really only kept for the nostalgia. It started to turn because of age and I no longer enjoyed it like I first did. So I sold it to someone who would appreciate it’s rare value more so than myself. That notable something that I can’t pinpoint. Synthetic and oily something that I adored in Narciss is recognizable in this fragrance. It’s the 90’s yummy safe and enjoyable. I have a bottle post millennium. The ombré box with a frosted bottle.

Like I said, I think it is very safe fragrance. It doesn’t make me think perfume. More so body spray to be honest with good longevity. Which isn’t bad! I’m enjoying it for the eBay price. Not a love but a like. The dry down is definitely my favorite.

Astrid89

Huh...sweet vanilla in a very oriental way. Not rich vanilla but cheap shyntetic vanilla. Far away from my favourite. It reminds me of late '80s and early '90s.

I got it by mistake (I ordered another one from the same line). Since I'm too lazy to return it or sell it and I don't know anyone who would like it I wear it at home...when I feel nostalgic, miss my mom or think about my childhood days.

It's long lasting with a very good sillage so if you prefer this type of parfumes go for it.

Top note: sweet vanilla
Middle note: sweet vanilla
Base notes: sweet vanilla with a pinch of coconut and sandalwood

On initial spray I got full on nasty B.O. smell, mixed with pinacolada! I do also get a whiff of banana too. Whatever the note is that I found full on and BO smelling repulsive seems to die down quickly. But now I am left with a lot of slightly coconut-y musk which is actually reminding me of Katy Perry Indi that I have but only use for room spray now and then as it’s not my thing but is a powdery musk scent. I was hoping to get fruity, floral, and sandlewood base. But none of those are there for me. Will try again another day when it’s sunny and see if I change my mind and get any nice holiday vibes I was hoping for! Note: I have never tried this perfume until now, so I don’t know if it is a new and different formula, but it was cheap from NOTINO and is in a cheap looking square bottle with plastic black lid.

N-a Confuzie .... 🤯 🤣

Am achizițonat varianta noua,50 ml, bineințeles.
Si-am decis sa-l incerc. 😬

E ...aici, Bum 🤯!!!...Mare surpriza 🥳, Ce s-a întamplat ???🤔🧐

-daca doresti varianta veche a parfumului,
cumpara-l pe cel in varinta 100ml, pt ca daca il cumperi in sticluța noua de 50 ml, o sa ai o mare dezamagire, NU ESTE ACELAS PARFUM!!!😁

Impresie generala:🤗

Miros- 8/10
Longevitate- 8-9 ore
Siaj- pana-n 3 metri
Anotimp- fiind un parfum puternic, as zice Toamna-Iarna, zi /noapte
Desi, mirosul ma duce cu gandul la vara pe seara, pt ca acest parfum este o mare nuca de Cocos,🥥d-aia 😁

Multumesc mult ca ati citit prima mea recenzie.😘🤣

I got a super cheap small bottle and when it arrived it had a strange cap, so I thought it was a fake. But after some researching I don't think it's fake anymore. Do they even fake Avon? One reason I believe it is real is that it smells really good. Too good to be a fake. And batch code is legit.
To me it is reminiscent of the same peach as Trésor, the same coconut as Angel, and the delicious violet of Insolence. There is also a base of delicious vanilla and creamy sandalwood in there.
This is a perfume that really fits me well. I didn't think it would, since it is such a cheapie and I am literally allergic to cheap smells. I really hate plasticky, synthetic perfumes, but this one isn't any of that.
It is feminine and soft, very sweet. Maybe too sweet for some noses, but I'm wearing it in January and sweetness doesn't bother me much in the cold weather. In warmer weather it will probably be very cloying.
I started out liking it but I'm leaning towards a love, we will see how this relationship develops.
I recommend a blind buy if you like sweet feminine scents!

Gratefruit7

When Im wearing it, I feel like im chewing bubblegum and drinking some coconut shake all day. I would say its a strong perfume so winter type BUT....there is something summery about it. I picture summer and tropics, holiday, sweet escape from the everydays. Very exotic (guess that's why they named it far away...) I would wear it all year around.
Sillage is impressive, im loving it🥰 If I dont know its from AVON I would think its Black opium or Carolina Herrera Good girl price range... I found myself a new favourite.

dismalharmony

My feelings on this fragrance had been tainted by a rancid bottle I’d inherited from my mother, but I wanted to rectify this, as I knew it COULD smell amazing. She’d worn it for years and it had created the most beautiful cloud around her every time. After scoring a bottle on eBay (less than $20 for 1.7 oz… gotta love it!) I can definitively say that I’ve become a fan! It’s sweet and powdery but not cloying, the fruits and florals bouncing off of each other beautifully. It smells a little dated, yes, but has aged very gracefully. You would NEVER guess that this scent was as inexpensive as it is! What truly made it worth it, though, was my mother’s reaction — she had started wearing it after her first husband, who died tragically on their honeymoon, bought it for her. As soon as she sprayed it on her wrist and caught a whiff, she sighed, closed her eyes, and smiled — for just one moment, she was back in 1994, blissfully happy with the love of her life. I can picture her so clearly the way she looked in my youth, in her pink corduroy jacket and fuzzy multicolored scarf and earrings she made herself, smelling of Far Away when she hugged me. Not only does it remind her of the best times of her life, but it reminds me of our treasured relationship. A true winner all around.

blaganikolett

My mom loves this perfume and I love my mom, so I love this too. No matter if I wear this on clothes or spray it on my skin, it's long lasting. I love wearing it especially in winter and fall.

jreyes366

I have left a few reviews of this fragrance over the years and I even have the bottle tattoed on my ankle. I wanted to talk exclusively about the body powder that accompanies this perfume.

I know in the USA where I live, they don't sell the body powder anymore but you can still get it pretty easily on ebay or Amazon.

I put this on tonight after my shower and I had almost forgotten how silky smooth this is when you rub it across your skin. The scent is absolutely heavenly, so powdery, so vanillic, and so comforting. I'm only wearing the body powder and I can smell it through my clothes.

If you are into a powdery l, sweet, and lovely scents, I suggest trying this in the body powder.

meliecat

This is my Grandmother's signature scent now. And probably the only scent from Avon that I find appealing, long-lasting and classic, it's an absolute hit and works quite good on my skin too, especially in colder or mild weather. I used up a few bottles and purse sprays over the years and even though I always promise myself never to touch it again, alas, here I go for the umpteenth time..The scent itself is typical 90-s peachy-vanillic powdery sweetness with ylang, sandalwood and flowers.. I get no coconut, or else it's hiding somewhere blended in. The bottle is very pretty, the original one with frosted glass and purple/black cap and black tassle. A good budget perfume to reach for when you are sick of everything else you own..

janalednova

Far Away smells a bit like sweets from a stall at a fair. Like cotton candy, caramel apple, piece of cake and lemonade.

bittersweetpoison

Love this, it smells so expensive and intoxicating on me - my type of perfume. However, it doesn’t last whatsoever on my skin…I remember it from the 90s when my mom had the beautiful original bottle, and it was a bomb lasting for hours. Wish they’d bring back the bottle and longevity.

Gemsense

Only smells good in cool weather. I wonder if the new formula will work in other temps? Im scared to buy a new bottle 😳 u know how they ruin those classics from the 90s...

Aiga1

My auntie used to wear this in 90s, I loved it back then and love it now. It seems they've changed the formula a little bit, but it's still a sexy, sweet powder bomb, great perfume.

artpopmixer

Smells like hypnotic poison, alien and Madonna’s truth or dare all in one! Why have I avoided this for so long? It’s so cheap and is one of the strongest long lasting perfumes I’ve ever come across!

Twentzel

They changed the original fragrance, it's not possible. It's not the smell I remember from the 90's.
The new packaging is disgusting and cheap (I miss the matte bottle).
I can't feel the coconut. I feel a very strong smell that is very artificial, plastic, like burnt petroleum...turns my stomach :/
Luckily, after a few minutes (40-60 minutes), it settles down to a less irritant smell, almost good, but not quite there.
The body powder smells much better. Someone mentioned that the body lotion also smells way better.
I really would like to like this fragrance, but there is something about it that ruins it. Sad...

Pickeral

I adore my cousin's spicy peach jam!, and Far Away prompts my culinary memories. But Far Away is way better than jam, because... it's not caloric, it's not a sticky mess, and there's also the scent of coconut, sweet jasmine and florals all blended together so softly and so well. I love this! It's very cozy and seems good for fall and winter. I wouldn't call this a seductive perfume, but I like it for my own enjoyment and I don't think it would offend anyone.

izzy_303

I had a dream about this perfume bottle that my sister had when I was a little girl in the early 2000s. I could not remember the name but I remembered the black and pink cap. Let's just say that it took me quite a bit of time to find it on google by typing in "perfume with black and pink cap." But I am so glad that I found it through Fragrantica and the wonderful people here who post pictures of their older/vintage bottles. I used to love the way it smelled. I might have to purchase a bottle of this for the memories.

Eau_de_jess

Far Away is on the way to making it into my favorites list. This is such a beautiful, sexy scent. I find it quietly seductive. Far away is the mysterious lady in a dimly lit night club, company of one.

Upon first spritz, I get a very tart citrus and peach for sure. Then comes the jasmine and as her heart opens up, I already get very resinous notes and something akin to black licorice, which is a nice surprise. Before really settling into the base notes, a nice yet fleeting rose shows up. At the base, she is sweet and powdery and to my nose, there is dragon's blood. I adore dragon's blood. Gorgeous.

The longevity on Far Away is quite good. It was still very present after 5 to 6 hours after applying. For a eau de parfum that costs a whopping 16.99 USD, you can't beat the value. I find it interesting that with my fragrances from Avon, the older perfumes (Far Away, Sweet Honesty and Timeless, specifically) are lasting much longer than newer scents. Timeless and Sweet Honesty are actually colognes and they last longer than. Velvet EDP, for example. Curious.

brandiallyn

Very vanilla-forward with a powdery bubblegum sweetness. It immediately reminded me of bubblegum tape. Not a bad thing, just a strong memory association. As Far Away dries down, I get more peach, powder and tonka, all resting atop a sweet amber. It's a pretty linear candy-sweet fragrance, but I find it strangely addicting. This is a nice bedtime scent or for when you want to cozy up on the couch in a soft blanket. Very youthful. Lovers of sweet powdery fragrances may want to give this a try!

I'm curious about the other Far Away flankers and might end up trying some more since they are so affordable.

I recently picked this up in a charity shop for a bargain. It had never been opened and was still in all its outer packaging. I asked the volunteer if she wouldn’t mind peeling the packaging off so I could just double check before buying that it hadn’t turned completely (I’ve had an experience of this before: new perfume in a charity shop unopened, got home and smelt rancid.) and she obliged. She sprayed a bit of this on the back of a til receipt and straight away I knew I’d hit golden. I’ve had quite a few vanilla bombs in my time but I can honestly say: I’ve never had one that smells quite like this. On my skin it is the most bizarre but intoxicating smell it’s sweet, but not in a gourmand way, Smokey but not like straight up incense or tobacco, a little musky too but more ‘lived in’ than full blown animalic. I get a little coconut, the tiniest hints of some of those other florals but floating above all that is what must be that Karoube note which is so different, I can’t place having smelt it anywhere else. And of course: Vanilla but on me, it’s more of a strong vanilla cooking extract or even a vanilla liquor. In terms of development, it doesn’t stray too far, every now and then I get the faintest whiff of something other than the main notes I’ve listed but then it pulls back to this with vanilla and musk in the dry down. I can fully understand why people say this is a comforting scent. The temperature here is starting to cool down a little and this is really lovely on but I can imagine it being a regular reach for me when the temperature plummets. I feel like this is going to be lovely clinging to my big fluffy sweaters. Very happy and very lucky with this! Good job Avon!!

Tracy04

They have changed this perfume so much and I am very disappointed. It used to be absolutely beautiful, sophisticated and unique.
Now it's very sharp when first sprayed like pure alcohol mixed with fly spray. There's none of the previous depth, it fades away to a faint hint of vanilla in no time at all. Unfortunately there's still a trace of the fly spray smell too :(.

They've also changed the bottle and packaging to reflect the low standard of the revised scent.
This has been my favourite for many many years and I'm so sad that I now have to find a new perfume to replace it.
Any recommendations would be greatly received.

Ferrerorocher

I decided to try on the fragrance again. It’s not bad actually. I like the sweetness of the perfume

Ferrerorocher

I’m usually not the type to say a fragrance smells old but this truly does smell old. Like it reminds me of a perfume my grandma might have worn. It’s not really my type. Other fragranticans did say that I might not like this one and I guess they are right.

Edit: now I understand why I don’t like this perfume, I don’t like the smell of sandalwood. Get it if you like sandalwood

LilyCR

This perfume and me have our story. I had wanted to have this perfume for a long time. It reminded me of my childhood. Don't know why exactly. Well, as I couldn't find a representative of the brand. Like 6 years ago, I finally got it because I became a representative just to be able to get it at a lower price as in my country an Avon perfume may round the 50 dollars. Well, to make the story short. When I finally had it in my hands, couldn't wait to get in my car and try it. What s disappointment. It smelled differently. I didn't like it at all. Well, that was probably because we were around the 24 C. I reserved for colder nights as I live in a tropical country. Today I wearing it to bed and I feel so comforted. I'm definitely enjoying since I sprayed it 2 h ago. I Love it!!! I reconciled with my old friend and it's hugging me tonight!

myra83

Ive grown up with this beautiful scent.. before i get addicted into niche. For old version lasting power is like forever on the cloth even on skin.. now avon asia manufactured in philipine.. for asia version i would say nothing much.. staying power very weak linger around 2 hours maximum. If you choose and buy far away made in poland version you will get the heaven original far away scent.. right now i have 2 bottles limited edition 100ml far away and it made in poland.

annasarahr121

What a pretty, warm, cozy, sweet-but-not-too-sweet, comforting perfume! To my nose, Far Away is major VANILLA, a bit of peach and super-light orange, a teeny bit of coconut, and some sandalwood and gardenia. It's creamy and gentle and perfect. I generally prefer strong perfumes and, to my nose, Far Away has a gentle, not bombastic, sillage, and it lasts decently in the 5-6 hour range, drying down to a lovely vanilla scent. Its drydown is super reminiscent of Rochas Tocade 2018, another amber floral. The only other perfume that it reminds me of a bit is Elizabeth Taylor Black Pearls, another amber peachy gardenia, but there's something in Black Pearls' drydown that I didn't like (can't recall what it was), whereas Far Away is lovely from top to bottom. I definitely recommend it if you like warm vanilla-amber scents with a bit of peach.

DragonDonuts99

I went to visit my older sister when I was 9 years old, and happened to see two of these beautiful bottles on the bathroom cabinet mirror. As no child could resist, I took the cap off one bottle, took a whiff and was knocked off my feet.

The first perfume that stole my heart. Sweet, woodsy vanilla-peach wrapped in tonka bean goodness.
To this day I still wear it, it will always be my first love. If you love sexy sweet perfumes, this is one of the best. My first love, always and forever.

guimaraesalves

a true classic, powdery and very 90's in a good way, it's a grownup vanilla... amazing

Caroliinaa

This is a powdery, warm, slightly fruity oriental. It is pretty well blended. I purchased the 30 ml size of it because everyone was saying how headache-inducing and tiring this scent is and I have to disagree. This is a really soft, warm scent. Longevity is around 4-5 hours and projection is an arm's length. Really appropriate for fall and winter. Good value for money. I just wish it was a bit stronger.

5.5/10

IMadeleine

This is one of the best Avon fragrances, along with TTA collection and Little black dress. Love it! It has a great longevity, I smell it on me even after 10 hours. On clothes stays forever.

Muhala

I don't know. I used to think this was such a special perfume. And wearing it made me feel like I was wearing something special and truly standing out. But no more. I think either my scent preferences changed abruptly or I've come to better understand what my nose prefers and what puts me in a good head space. Suddenly this scent is sickeningly sweet. All I smell is sweet and it's hard to make out anything else. As one reviewer said, it's a heavy and intense perfume. You may not forget it, even when you want to. It sticks to you like regret and is equally as relentless. It smells mature, thick and obstinate, and doesn't even have the intrigue of complexity. But for those who appreciate rich scents that are deeply intense, this is worth considering. It would be great consideration for autumn or winter or for a date night in summer.

Not_a_perfume_junkie

Beautiful vanilla cookies ! Soft and powdery. A definite winner from Avon. Long lasting and projects well. Very distinctive but not in an annoying way. Love it.

lulu169

not a successful blind buy...i mixture of Gabriela Sabatini and Hypnotic Poison. very old-school in a bad way. I'm getting a lot if aldehydes with peach and vanilla. since i already own Gabriela Sabatini a don't need this.

LadyKatrin

For the whole first hour after spritzing, it smells like the mixture of mandarins (probably the mixture of peach and orange) and vanilla. Afterwards it becomes more subtle and gentle. Smell of mandarins subsides a little and sweet, powdery vanilla takes over.

Quality and durability are excellent. Smell is incredibly strong, I can smell the perfume the next day on my cloths.
But the scent isn't the nicest one, at least for my nose.

Sol0013

I smelled this on a friend today. It's a powdery vanilla. Almost smells like make up. It was pretty but I have no idea about it's longevity.

JoLeenS80

My mom was an Avon rep most of my life. During my early teen years when I started to get into fragrances I never liked anything from Avon and always wore Exclamation, Tribe, or Malibu Musk (this was early 90's). Then Far Away came around and I was smitten. Finally a sweet fruity perfume I enjoyed. I got lots of compliments on it until a girl in school told me I smelled like an old lady. Sadly I couldn't get that comment out of my head and stopped wearing it. Crazy how our peers can influence us at that age 😕

Delia32

I am no fan of Avon scents, but I used to wear this years ago, in high school, and really liked it during that time. It's sweet, powdery, oriental, quite intense, with good longevity, esp. given its price. I like the peach and vanilla in it. All in all, if I had to pick one or two from Avon, I prob would pick this one and maybe the Rare Pearls.

xpetra82

Very sweat fruity oriental. I only wear it layered with elixir aromatics and i always get a lot of compliments . This way i create the perfect vintage night out vibe!
Edit... This one grew on me very well... I spay one spray of this on my chest almost every evening! So conforting and it mutches gr8 with all my perfumes... All my pajamas smells like far away

Little Lady Black

This scent is really popular, so to test it out I bought a mini roll-on to try.
I really don't get the hype. The ingredient list is confusing, mostly because I can't smell any of it except vanilla and musk, and some sandalwood and jasmine when I focus. It's a heavy and almost cloying scent, and lasts a long time. It only skirts the line of enjoyable when it fades enough for anything but vanilla to be felt.

I gave the roll-on to my mother, and she did like it quite a bit, so I'm upping its final grade to OK instead of dislike, but I will definitely not be buying it again.

Burgundy Jayde

I got this off of a reputable Avon dealer at work. ⚱ This perfume is perfectly named. One spray of this and you will want to stay as "far away" from me as possible. It's morning and I sprayed it to see if I like it. This scent is absolutely repulsive. There is nothing soft or beautiful about it. It is very harsh and extremely synthetic. Vanilla is supposed to smell absolutely beautiful I do not know how a perfume could get it so very extremely wrong. Its spicy and vanilla the grossest combination I've ever smelt. It's linear from start to finish a dirty spicy vanilla. It smells like a worse version of Mackie by Bob Mackie and Jeanne Arthes Love Generation Rock. My nose has matured so maybe that's why I find this scent offensive. It's one of the worst. I'll never wear it. The bottle is pretty though. I wish I knew somebody I could give it to. Very disappointed. The strength of this scent should be 🚫 illegal. It's a sillage beast from hell. Thank heaven it's time for my morning 🚿 shower

Madyana

If this had been my first scent from the Far Away line, I probably wouldn’t have tried others.
Here’s something that with my skin chemistry turns almost like.. a cat’s pee. But the fault is not in the scent, because with my daughter this smells nice.
I can smell this dna on some flankers as well, but in them this "cat pee efect" is not overwhelming and actually makes the scents interesting on my Skin. But this one is "no no" for me.

Phelpsee

This is the fragrance that I reach the most for, when I dont know what to wear, or whenever I want an instant boost of happiness.
Such a cozy winter night fragrance. I wear it to bed sometimes as it makes me feel relaxed, warm and happy. I always get compliments on this if I wear it on a night out, especially when layered with the matching body lotion and powder. My husband loves this one, he always tells me I smell lovely when I wear this. He can't believe it's less than £15. I mostly smell the peach, coconut and vanilla, and I get an incense vibe which I think is the sandalwood. This also reminds me of a nurse I used to work with, from Africa, and this was the perfume she would wear every day. She would tell me stories of her life back home in Ghana, and somehow, when I wear this perfume, I imagine that I am in some exotic corner of the world, away from all of life's problems. I hope this doesn't get discontinued.
Sadly it doesn't last as long as it used to, it must have been reformulated. Due to this I have worn this in summer with no ill effects, although I would prefer to have the bomb back 🥰

mirrorghost

i like the lotion a lot. it smells very 90s. i get primarily peach with some vanilla and gardenia i believe. a peachy, musky floral. so pretty! however, the perfume version is not quite as good on my skin. i get gardenia and vanilla primarily and it goes a bit plasticky on me. i have a partial vintage bottle i am testing from, so maybe it went off? however, i'm pretty sure the lotion i tried was vintage too and it smelled better for some reason. as someone below mentioned, it's in the same vein of JPG's classique. but i get the doll-head/plastic sort of note thing happening here as well.

yourthemanowdog

this review is for the MENS version of avon far away i didn't see it on fragrantica but its pretty horrible . its like a cheap cheap avon fragrance not worth buying

correspondencepersonal

Far Away has been one of the top selling Avon perfumes of all time and was released in the mid 90's. It is one of those perfumes that draws a constant stream of compliments. People love this one. I have received a lot of compliments every time I wear this.

Far Away sensual, sexy, warm, woodsy, cozy, vanilla/sandalwood incense type perfume that men go crazy for and women compliment. It really must have some type of magnetic, alluring, sexy type draw for men and women like the smell also.
I'd put it more in the range with Estee Lauder's Sensuous, which has coconut and sandalwood - (I like both, but prefer Avon's Far Away).

Far Away is hitting a sweet spot where it is a milder, more easy to wear formula than some of the 80's and 90's super strong heavy hitter fragrances. (It is not as heavy as some of the heavy hitter fragrances like Youth Dew, Cinnabar, Coco Channel, Paloma, Knowing, Opium, Elizabeth Taylor's Passion).

Avon's Far Away series has a similar DNA structure with a common theme of vanilla, spices, and a sensual incense type formula. I have tried Far Away, Far Away Gold, Far Away Infinity. They are all good and share some core fragrance notes - but each have a slightly different set of notes that make them completely unique. They are similar enough to have a common theme, but different enough to collect more than one or two.

I just saw that Avon discontinued this.
I can't believe that they would discontinue something this popular.
Avon's Far Away Infinity or Far Away Gold may be the reason why they discontinued the original Far Away. These particular formulas are really great, too. They may have surpassed Far Away in sales.
Perhaps that's why they discontinued this one.

There is one note which is slightly more green in Avon's Far Away.
This note is the note that I have questioned as being good with my chemistry...although each time I have worn Far Away by Avon, I get a ton of compliments... people comment that it smells like a vanilla flavored exotic incense... and they do so with that whimsical look in their eyes, there is definitely something about that type of vanilla musk fragrance which mezmerizes people. It is a great autumn/fall type fragrance - wears well in the winter too because of its depth and warmth.

It has one note that is a slight dissonant green incense type chord that I notice with my skin when I spray Avon's Far Away. Sometimes this chord goes a bit sharp, with a slight greenish manure smell, this is brief - but is a little off putting and one of the reasons why I have not worn Avon's Far Away as a signature - although I get a constant stream of compliments on it the days that I wear it. (I think this may be the days that I have had Mexican food or Italian food with a stronger dose of garlic and onion, quite possibly. Foods do influence the way certain perfumes interact with your skin).

I'm shocked that they would discontinue this perfume -

A well known clothing store in the area where I grew up used to spray this near the entry. All of their clothes had this scent to them - which was fabulous. Kind of their signature store smell! I loved it!

jumblecupcake

Smells like Jean Paul Guiter for women in my opinion. Not the same, it is like a relative.

Lixa

Love it! Great surprise from Avon and very well done, expensive smelling. It's intriguing, dense, vanilla-dominated with noticeable coconut and maybe some peach and flowers, beach-y and dreamy;) I like the poetic name, it suits
the fragrance, and I like the frosted bottle, although I think they've changed the packaging with an ugly one (why, oh why?? Really dumb move).
It's extremely strong and very persistent (an unreal 12 hours on skin!!); whoever likes sweet perfumes will most likely enjoy this one. I bought Infinity first, but now I think I like this one better. Something romantic to wear on the beach somewhere far away...Amazing find indeed. Awesome for winter as well.

marialena888m

Ultra-feminine, sensuous, 90’s girl-power fume. Right up my alley. Other scents of this nature: Classique, Chloe Narcisse, Mackie and Poeme...all very much loved by me. Far Away is rich, warm and fuzzy. A delicious floriental-vanilla blend accented with coconut and juicy peach. It’s ambery, sweet and powdery, and gets progressively more cuddly and vanillic in the drydown (love!). The drydown is amazing once the vanilla starts to really warm up on your skin, smells like heaven. It can get overpowering, so I do prefer applying the roll-on perfume rather than spraying it on. Very cozy and uplifting for fall and winter, it puts me in a good mood on cold, dreary days. Suitable for date nights when you want to stand out from the crowd. Caution: avoid wearing it in warm summer weather, it gets cloying, and you’ll smell like a cheap car air freshener (been there, done that). I’ll always have a bottle in my collection, so beautiful compared to many overpriced perfumes out there, great value.

KylieBooFace

I just bought this and I think my bottle went bad. It's not similar to Vanilla Fields like I remember, like as if my bottle went bad :/

sandsea

do u have a frag that you love so much you are always saving it for a special occasion? well this is one of thoses for me. but it shouldn't be because it's very affordable. it's sensual, thick and rich. it's that sweater that smells so fantastic every time you put it on. it says "hi, i smell great all over and i stuff my pillow cases with cash, and my life is amazing" :) it reminds me of Safari Ralph Lauren

Anna Maky

Owner of 100,2x50ml (one bottle prereformulated without Avon Far Away logo on the bottle),1x30ml, deo, and roll on,Infinity and Gold in old bottles. This is my far by best fragrance ever. Wearing since 2007 till now. I really, really can´t understand that shit they completely changed the bottle design and box for Far Away line in Europe. It´s heartbreaking. By the way we can´t get Far Away Aloha, or Far Away Amalfi here in Europe. Such a big shame for Avon company. Didn´t try Far Away in that new ugly bottle yet. Will post difference between old and new Far Away later.

🗣Sex In The City Meets Pure "SEX IN A BOTTLE"!!
I First Smelt This Absolutely Stunning Perfume On A Co-Worker Way Back In The Early 90s, & Honestly Couldn't Believe It When She Told Me It Was A Brand New Avon Fragrance Called "Far Away"!! It Most Certainly Caused A Real Stir When It Was First Launched, Very Much The Same As "Lou Lou" By Cacharel Did When It Also Appeared On The Market, As Everyone Was Buying & Wearing It Back Then!! But To Be 100% Honest, I Much Prefere Avon's "Far Away" To "Lou Lou"!! As "Far Away" Seems All Round Better Blended & It Really Does Conjure Up Exotic Night's On A Really Beautiful Tropical Island Escape!! I Wore This At Night Time While On Holiday In Santorini & I Can Tell You The Compliments I Received Was Absolutely Unreal!! + It Lasted An Impressive 14+ Hour's!! Have Litterly Just Purchased A Brand New Bottle Of It,& Hope That Avon Haven't Mucked Around With The Original Formulation Of It!! So Will Update Once I Give It A Good Test Run!! Deffo Highly Recommend It To Everyone!! & Really Is Well Suited To Evening Wear/Going Out For A Classy Meal Etc!! 😍😘❤❤❤

Far away was my mother's signature perfume in the early 2000's so it's such a nostalgic scent for me, and a week ago I purchased one for me and it doesn't smell as strong as it was but generally IT IS GREAT, I love how simple and lightly sweet it is, it totally smells like a kind, caring, chic woman and I think it's more suitable for winter or fall evenings

meg0825

Far Away is a warm, rich, and exotic floral. Sweet ylang ylang, creamy vanilla, tropical coconut, and powdery amber. It's very potent and for that reason I think it's best for evening wear. Summer evenings to be exact. A classic Avon fragrance that is still going strong.

StellaKapranos

I remember smelling Far Away as a teenager back in the `90s. I think that my love for sweet and strong perfumes stated then. It is a surprisingly good and long lasting perfume for its price. It`s a good combination of vanilla and spices, and it`s a cheaper version of Chopard`s Cashmere. I`ve smelled it recently and it hasn`t changed at all, unlike many expensive perfumes. It is good for teenagers and young women up to 24-25 years of age. More for evenings and definitely for fall or winter, as it is pretty heavy.

LavenderLara

My forever love,i have 3 for now..

agnieszka.scislowska

It is 1995, summer vacation, which as usual I spend at home, in the city. I watch many VHS films. One day when I came to to borrow some new I met a woman and she smelled with this. Wearing plastic, pink skirt. Very fancy those times. his is strong, vanilla, warm scent. Very offensive, warm amber and peachy.

Elynthia

I've got a sample of this because of the description saying it's powdery and creamy which was exactly what I was looking for at the time. And OH MY GOD I couldn't stop smelling it! I kept smelling my hand throughout the whole day, it's like a drug! It wasn't a favourite at first smell like some other perfumes I love, but it definitely got me hooked after a few hours of wearing it while I just kept sniffing it. I found it difficult to pick out any particular notes, but upon seeing them now I can see now that it was probably the sweetness of coconuts and sandalwood that drew me in. It's just all blended together so nicely. A unique, sweet, creamy, powdery complex. Avon keeps knocking me out of my shoes with their fragrances!

HeavyBeatsUK

From the votes on the notes, you could be misled into thinking this is like Chophard’s Cashmir or Dior’s Addict!

It is effervescent like a fizzy candy/sweet, lots of fruit, violet, rose. Not very oriental. But lots of fun!

It would suit a 16 year old girl out with her friends.

deviant_dee

So I was keen to try this because of the reviews and I remember as a lil 7 year old, I loved the smell of this in the AVON catalogue.

One thing that swayed me over with the reviews was how many people said it was an overpowering/strong scent. I loveeeeee perfumes that knock you out with one spray. Subtle scents meh na ah no thank you. I like perfumes to make bold statements. Anyways...Far Away for me is definitely NOT a heady perfume. Wish it was.

It's a comfy scent. Like having a bubble bath and then snuggling up in bed in ya girly nightie. The scent does remind me more of a classy bath/body product more than a perfume.

Another thing that's baffled me with comments on here is the longevity and sillage. Far Away's longevity and sillage is poor I think. I have to spray it on me more than once in the day. Disappears fairly quickly. I also purchased Far Away Gold and think the longevity and sillage is slightly better there.

I also got the Far Away roll-on....and it's rubbish. Don't bother. Barely has a scent.

Overall Far Away is a pleasant, classic and comfy scent.

iulianada

I like it. I can feel the powdery in it and it smells a little bit like Alien from Thierry Mugler.

bel.gravia

Smells rather mature, not an easy going scent, reminds me of Crystal Noir by Versace because of its coconut tropical quality. This one is a soft grown up vanilla with loads of strong essences around it - those are intoxicating, narcotic flowers. I can also smell some mellow spiciness like in Kenzo Flower or even L Heure Bleue Guerlai, it must be the violets. Overall, I am pleased.

Polinka

I have the roll on version. Oddly enough it's not overpowering or strong. Maybe in this particular version.. who knows. And now I remembered what it reminds me of, Crystal Noir Versace without the pepper of course. It's just more sweet, with more ylang. The sandalwood isprominent here.

sygrid29

The new bottle available here in the philippines is no longer the same with the last formulation. There is a strong alcohol note then dry down to eventually a fleeting sweet powdery that remniniscent of the older far away scent. The skin softener smells much better and closer to the original formulation.

amayabluelove

This perfume reminds me of my mom..I have one and I only use it during cold days..Its really overpowering and 2 sprays should be enough for me. My kids say its smells old but definetly has a unique fragrance.

Gummybear002

It's so powdery and sweet that it's something I can only wear when I'm in a mood for it. It's definitely nice and gets tons of comments from others, but it can be a little choking over the course of the day.

Really nice though, and I have so many memories in this!

marie rose

Super sugar sweet on me. One spray will do it.
I swear sugar cubes should be a note here. Syrupy sweet powerhouse. I don't get any coconut unfortunately as I love coconut. Warm sugary floral.
Looong lasting. Big sillage.
I like Far Away Infinity much better.

perfumeninja

My review is based on older bottles. Since this has been such an all time favorite in my collection, I have back-ups to last probably for forever! It isn't a perfume you spray with abandon (in the original version) so therefore it has lasted me a long time.

Far Away is probably my most complimented perfume. It's in my top 5 of all time it shares a 2nd spot in my collection with Far Away Gold. A huge love for me.

A good friend and collector, whose collection is much more vast than mine, is my scent twin in that we both love many of the same perfumes, Far Away among them.
During a sample swap she had sent me Far Away Gold along with many other new scents to try. All of them were great and all over the board price-wise but FA Gold stood out.
As I told her, "When I smelled FA Gold (or Far Away), it's like why would I ever wear any other perfume?" It just ticks all the boxes for me. It always stands out for me.

I can't even remember when I first started wearing Far Away but it was probably back when it first came out. I never run out and will always have BU bottles of it. I'm sure it's still one of Avon's most sold perfumes. Luckily I don't smell it on people like I do some other world widely popular fragrances.

I've worn all price points and types of fragrances but nothing matters to me except how I much I like the smell of a perfume and the feeling it evokes in me. I don't wear perfume to please other people but gladly I've managed to choose perfumes that work for me and therefore are liked by others who encounter me! But ultimately, it's all about how I like something. If it coincidentally is liked by someone then lucky them. :)

Far Away is a pretty, oriental fragrance that has some of my most favorite elements, vanilla, sandalwood, white flowers and I love coconut but I don't really get the coconut notes in this. The gardenia is really nice here.

I agree that Far Away Gold and Far Away are so very similar although I do own and will always have both. I haven't liked any of the other flankers I've smelled.
Edit: I actually *love* Far Away Rebel and will probably get some of that and now I want to try FA Infinity after reading some trusted reviews about it!

Far Away has a soft feminine dry down that lasts and I find it comforting and snuggle worthy. I like and wear several fragrances marketed to men, but Far Away is one of the more girly perfumes I own.

If you enjoy fragrances like Poeme, Organza and other beautiful floral perfumes along these lines you may want to try to get a sample of Far Away for testing.

who.am.i.you

What a lovely vanilla sandalwood and white floral scent. I get coconut milk in small doses, but overall, this is a sandalwood-heavy scent to me. I should maybe mention that it is a vintage mini that I own. Unsure of year. Maybe its age lends to the heavy sandalwood, but I love it. It is powdery, but in a very beautiful way. Reminds me a bit of the amber and powdery combo in Ellen Tracy Bronze, but there's no citrus in this. A very cozy scent that I can see glowing in the heat of summer as well.

pamela-raney

Um clássico da marca que simplesmente é maravilhoso!! uso desde a pré-adolescência é marca registrada da minha família. É um perfume muito doce e sensual, considero ser o melhor perfume da Avon!

mevans

This is the stuff dreams are made of. That warm, sweet vanilla with the sandalwood. It's comfort and coziness in a bottle. Strangely, I don't pick up on the coconut but that's okay, the whole fragrance is blended to perfection. Nothing is overdone. I'll always re-buy this one.

Cheka81

One of my favorite Avon perfumes, the scent is powdery, very lovely and feminine. It's long lasting and elegant.

mystica

Retaining her identity for the most part after series of reformulations, the iconic perfume now comes in a different (sort of hectagonal) bottle. Any reviews particularly on this will be much appreciated.

Lovaloo

My mother sold Avon for a summer when I was a child, she bought this for herself. She wore it frequently & it's inexpensive so she's repurchased it several times since. Far Away is a nostalgic fragrance for me, though it's definitely quite dated.

It could best be described as smelling like tropical scented talcum powder. A powdery amber floral fragrance that's sweet, with vanilla, sandalwood, and iris, there is an abstract coconut note alongside exotic flowers that gives this one a unique twist. This is not tropical smelling in a beachy, sunscreen way, it's more of an abstract impression.

Despite smelling artificial and perfumey in a decidedly 90s way, I'd say it's not as dense or potentially offensive as many of the other 90s releases. It's soft and powdery, nobody would bat an eye if you wore it. After 5-6 hours of wear, it clings closer to the skin but the longevity of this perfume is impressive. Great value for the low price if you like the scent.

charsept

Top notes are a little odd, but after 30 minutes, it's a beautiful vanilla floral.

Majessty

This is THE WORST PERFUME I'VE EVER SMELT!!!! I 100% regret buying based off of THESE REVIEWS! (never again shall I trust 'em) I wore this outside and had people telling me I SMELT LIKE CAT PISS. I BEG OF YOU DO NOT WEAR THIS! Now I have to say it USED TO smell good until it was reformulated. I know that it's not "just a bad batch" I've smelt it on others... I am disgusted that someone would actually allow this to be produced even for a fairly cheap company like Avon standards are low geez.
Edit:
I know this seems harsh to all the people who actually enjoy this perfume but this was from MY personal experience and it sucked.
Overall, I would just not buy this perfume it's not like what it used to be.
NOBODY wants to smell like cat piss.

Kashaboo

Just purchased two small bottles of this, as they were on sale at Avon. I wore this cologne a lot during my working career. It is a scent to put on when you don't exactly know which perfume to wear, but you want to smell good. I always would get compliments and people asked what perfume I had on.
The upside is that it has staying power, lasting usually all day. I think it is the yling ylang that makes it stick. I wish the bottle was a little more ornate, and of glass. I love glass bottles.

colorfulmess

Far Away, from 1994? When coconut wasn't even a thing? Inch resting.

And tassels are very much in right now. May be ahead of its time?

I love a good ylang + vanilla scent. And the freesia turns things a bit sour which makes it interesting. I can see how it might seem a little plastic and bug spray ish at first but that might have to do with my chemistry. I'm giving it a chance though, and I think it's one that will really grow on me.

Jackiex

I have grown to like this frag!
I used to think it was too hygiene-product-peachy and powdery for my taste. But I quite liked the drydown so often wore this when lounging around at home.
There's something very comforting about the soft, creamy vanilla drydown. I went through some tough times and started reaching for my Far Away bottle more and more often. The scent feels like a warm, comforting embrace and made me feel better when I was sad.
I've now realised that my bottle is almost empty and panicked a bit! This has slowly become my trusted scent for those days when I just can't decide which perfume to wear, or need a bit of a pick-me-up. Will have to buy a new bottle soon!
I do still think this scent is a bit too peachy in the beginning but it softens quite fast so it's not a deal-breaker. Also I can't detect much coconut which is a shame (love me some coconut!).
Surprisingly, I think this perfume is an all-year-rounder! Something this soft and powdery, surely it's a winter/autumn scent? Nope, works great on warmer weather too! Maybe it is the coconut lurking in the background after all?
Sillage and longevity are superb for the price, even on my perfume-drinking monster of a skin! Husband enjoys this on me as well, which is always a bonus. I've been converted!

KylieBooFace

I had this and rated it a "like." I love these bottle designs. It reminded me a lot of my mom's Coty Vanilla Fields perfume xD

KevinTheCarrot

I quite like this perfume, it smells like fresh laundry, a bit of peach, freesia and wood to me, with lots of powder. It does smell like a classic.

The only downside is that with my most recent bottle, the longevity and sillage were nowhere near as good as when I had my first bottle of it. Other people would have been able to smell it. I asked my boyfriend if he could smell it about half an hour after application and he couldn't. Despite the low price tag, I would have hoped for a little bit better, like a few years ago.

cleopatrspearl

A very warm perfume..extremely heavy, one squirt goes a loooong way

gtabasso

spicy then a little vanilla

mystica

Avon Far Away smells like new life to me. Courageous to begin again, approachable, soft, girly, womanly, but not to be messed with confident, happy, outgoing, comfortable in her own skin, honest, strong and open with just the right amount of healthy boundaries, chasing after and succeeding at new opportunities, comfort giving, easy to be with, quite recognizable yet unique!

Walking the fine line between aversion and attraction, Far Away is the girl you gonna fall for not knowing how.

PinkRainbow

I purchased this one by mail order, and am absolutely stunned. This has to be the most beautiful pairing of amber and vanilla that was ever created. There is a great deal of amber that makes itself known immediately, and stays for what seems like forever. Seriously, longevity is about two days-- a shower does not deter this sweetly scented angel at all! Amber is the queen here, and vanilla is her handmaiden. The intensely glorious amber is what makes this scent so totally unusual and distinctive. This would make a wonderful signature scent as it is completely in a class by itself-- and the price is sure right. It smells much more expensive than it is. A+++.

Angelicax1

Why is this voted as being a Fall or Winter perfume? Smells like an exotic tropical vacation to me!

ptilda

Very similar to Far Away Gold, and I would say you definitely don't need both. I have Gold, so I don't need this one. Gold is a bit sweeter, a bit fuller, and a bit louder. But both of these are very lovely scents. A tropical scent that is appropriate year round, and a classic that seems rather timeless. If you haven't tried any of this range, I highly recommend it. I have 4 of the flankers now, and all of them are exceptional scents.

Tingitangi

It doesn't smell exactly how I remember it from the last time I wore it. Not sure if that is me, or the perfume, as I've been surprised by old perfumes quite a lot recently.

It reminds me of a softer, fruitier version of Lou-Lou by Cacherel. A perfume that I cannot handle nowadays, despite trying to - a lot!

I have just bought myself a 10 ml bottle of Far Away, and I'd be inclined to buy myself a bigger bottle in the future.
An oldie, but goodie :)

liongirl22

Ugh. I absolutely hate this perfume. It smells like hot, oily, dirty hair that someone sprayed with perfume to try and mask the lack of a shower.

kristy13

It smells like a theater room. like you’ve gone for a dinner and a movie date in the 90s. I like it a lot but can’t describe what it smells like any other way, I don’t smell vanilla or peach I smell flowers and popcorn and clean clothes.

Lowertownie

This is the perfect tropical vanilla for me! I agree with some that its similar to Aura or should I say Aura is similar to this. I think it's more a kin to a stronger and longer lasting vanilla fields by coty. I love all the warm creamy flowers thrown in to the mix. Like all Avons you can layer all the body products to achieve a dense long lasting scent. This is so inexpensive yet the quality is top notch in my opinion. When I'm feeling vanilla I often pick this over my annick goutal VC because its longer lasting and 3% of the price.

sygrid29

I’ve just recently bought a new bottle manufactured in may 2018 here in philippines and to my disbelief, this have been watered down to much extent and doesn’t have the sillage and longevity like from 2017 bottle. The scent is much more focus on gardenia and the naptaline opening is completely gone while the powdery vanilla drydown is completely toned down. Please stock up and request for older batches and the reformulation is completely evident. Far away infinity is way more intense now.

Sherine777

Maybe this has changed over the years, these are the notes from Avon website:

• Top Notes: peach, freesia
• Middle Notes: jasmine, osmanthus, orange flower
• Base Notes: vanilla musk, sandalwood, amber

Taishi92

When I was little my mom bought me Sweet Honesty, and I loved it. It's a scent I repurchased many times and I remember as I looked through the AVON book, always feeling curious to try Far Away. Today I am 26 yrs old, my package arrived a few hours ago and that first sniff was rich, floral, spicy, beautiful! It takes me back too, in the best way. Not only do I love the fragrance, that by the way - reminds me of cosmetics and makeup

ptilda

It's been years since I smelled this one, and although I own and adore three of the flankers, I was thrilled to get a little 1ml stick sample of this.

It's strikingly similar to Far Away Gold, but a touch (or maybe a couple touches) lighter. The initial star of the show is the burst of creamy tropical flowers and coconut. It's interesting though, I have to bring myself to consciously recognize the coconut, because it's just creamy goodness.

As it settles, the amber, musk, and a bit of the sandalwood really show themselves to be the support of the scent, and this, along with the sweet vanilla, is what takes it from a tropical beach scent to a warm, cozy all-weather scent.

It could be cloying if overspray do, because it's got shockingly good performance, but it would absolutely be perfectly appropriate in any weather and any setting with modest application. Moreso than the Gold version.

To me, this is signature worthy. The woman who makes this her signature will smell like a million bucks, and few will ever guess that she paid so little for her scent. Just make sure you remember, a little goes a long way!

Svenska79

Far Away was part of a set that a friend gifted to me for Christmas. I had always wanted to experience this fragrance. Now at last I know why it has such a following. This is a warm, peachy, floral with hints of vanilla, amber, and a touch of spice. This is the ultimate hug yourself scent. Very comforting to the heart and nose.

muskfloral

I always believe in the possibility that one perfume can have many different smells on different skins. So, this is just how it worked on me.

No vanilla. No coconut. No anything but probably freesia and some jasmine, a lot of powder and pepper (or even coriander?), with a hint of some masculine wood (similar to cedarwood). After a while, I sense something almond-like or lotus-like, can't decide, and also some caraway when I rub my skin to make it warmer. The good news is that you can really sense some sandalwood.

There is also a sweetish note to it, which I generally don't like, but it seems to be useful in this case, because it would be too much masculine without it.

Maybe it works great on someone, so I can't call it "bad", but it definitely doesn't have those notes I bought it for.

On a more positive note, it is calming and rather clean, something I would like to put on when I am sleeping alone. So, my biggest objection to it is the bad description.

mshimoz

I fell in love with this perfume since my childhood , this is a piece of me , I really love it .

k8r8r

This was tested from a vial sample. I really like it. I find it cozy and comforting. I’m not usually a fan of florientals because of the powdery iris and violet notes, but this has more of a creaminess to it. I owe that to the gardenia. With my chemistry it wears softly and close to the skin. As it dries down, I detect a slight incense accord, like the kind used at midnight mass, but it’s softens in the dry down. This has a similar vibe to Hypnotoc Poison with my chemistry. I never liked HP because of the almond and caraway notes. I’m not sure if it’s FBW, but I like it enough to test again.

EDIT: Upon a more liberal application, this reminds me of Alien by Thierry Mugler. Jasmine, Mmmmm.

Rockdj

Avon’s Far Away eau de parfum is a true classic fragrance, the Best seller of this brand, a 90’s perfume for sure launched in 1994, a comforting/cozy- feminine & ultra sexy fragrance. I do really love how this fragrance smells on a girl, I don’t know why, but it truly catches my attention and it drives me crazy (in a very good way). My mom used to wear it in the past, she still has the little mini vintage bottle of pure parfum. It’s creamy, a little powdery, a floriental fragrance with a touch of a tantalizing creamy vanilla mixed with fressia, ylang-ylang, peach, orange flower, osmanthus, amber, sandalwood and musk. A masterpiece in my humble opinion, it’s heavy, but it settle down to a lovely cozy fragrance, perfect for AUTUMN/WINTER u can truly enjoy completely this fragrance on those weather season, perfect for a date or when u want to feel sexy, elegant and feminine. Perfect for a woman who loves to leave a bold statement while wearing her fragrance. A monster fragrance with great sillage And longevity. The bottle is beautiful and unique, an inexpensive fragrance that sometimes performs way better than a “high end” fragrance. Nothing smells like this fragrance, the only one is her younger sister Far Away Gold (mom has bought it and it’s a smothered version, but keeping the essence and quality of the original Far Away). 100% recommended for those women who love’s this type of fragrances.

ecofreak2001

I found this one just lying around, unopened. I used to have a coworker that sold Avon quite a while ago. Well, I used it. My God, this scent have amazing longevity. The scent has a casual, powdery, ambery smell. I kept smelling peaches and amber the whole freaking day.

waskotransportation

I used to sell Avon in the 90s. I blind bought about 10 bottles before I even smelled it, as soon as it came out, and no one bought them. Not a single person of my 100 plus customers liked it. I truly hated it. It smelled cheap and strong. Reminded me of Odyssey. SO gross. Yuck. Never blind buy this one.

juniemoon

I haven't owned an Avon fragrance in a long time and never this one so looking at all the favourable comments I decided to order it. Glad I did.

I'm sick with the flu now and stuffed up but can still smell this really well! Peach comes out the strongest note for me, a fresh, just ripened peach, with the coconut and vanilla playing nicely together just slightly behind. It's not overly floral but I think the ylang is peeking through a bit, glad its not too strong,

Other than the ylang, the other florals are pretty low key and the musk is faint. I love my perfumes strong so this is right up my alley especially since I'm sick. I can see why its so popular and a staple on so many perfume tables. Curious to try some others in this line.

Nuitdenoel

Far Away is a lovely powdery, slightly spiced vanilla. I am so happy to have it in my collection! One thing I have learned is that Avon perfumes do best if you let them rest for a few days after being delivered. Great quality, especially for the price. Oh! I rarely ever mention this but I really like the bottle, too.

RachelMaria

I can recommend the Far Away body lotion. The perfume itself was too heavy with Ylang ylang for my personal taste, but my daughter has just come out of the bathroom having used the body lotion and it it really lovely. In fact I didn't recognise it until she told me what it was. I would say that the body lotion is strong enough to use without perfume, so nice!

Lel

This is my fragrance I turn to when 'I don't know which one to wear today'. It is a pick-me-up without being too sensational, in fact its vanilla ordinariness is sometimes just what you need. And being Avon's best seller proves it has what it takes for a lot of women out there. Add to the fact that it's quite long lasting, on me at least, I always make sure I have this in stock.

Minted

This was my first Avon perfume I had ever bought, It was a nice floral scent with a hint of Vanilla. At the time I loved the scent of florals and especially Ylang-Ylang.

Although I had this about 8-10 years ago the scent is unforgettable, it had an alluring feminine smell which made my boyfriend at the time go head over heels.

Violetgoblin

I adore this and I was almost positive I wouldn't. In fact I went back and forth in if I should get it and after I ordered it from my Avon seller I wanted to cancel. The reviews are so...divided.
Oh but it's gorgeous.
I've had it for over a month and it's divine and better yet it's summer and I believe this is a true winter scent as I suspected and will positively radiate in colder weather...with sweaters!
Just vanilla 90s goodness with maybe some coconut. Deep and rich, not sickly. Lasts too. A little powdery, comforting. Musk?
I like the bottle too! My coming of age was in the 90s so perhaps that's why I'm so smitten with this gem.

sibaraa

Memories... This was so darn popular in the 90's. All girls talked about it. It smelled potent, but still so floraly nice. but as you get older your taste definitely changes. Too heavy and sweet for my taste.

Sophielouise

Used to love it when i was a teenager but now the scent is far to sickly for me its far to overpowering and personally it gives me a bad head.

patman21

What about the male version of this?! You can only find the after shave on e-bay and amazon but it seems that nobody know that scent here. It was one of my brother's perfume in the end of the 90's (he used Kenzo Pour Homme (Vintage for Christ's sake what a beauty was that) and Power /also vintage of course and a masterpiece as well). That was a very nice scent as I can remember to it, and it would be nice to see it here. :/

mapache

Hmmmmm....finally got a .05 oz little bottle of this in a trio...with Far Away Gold and Far Away Infinity.

Far Away: Um, just...NO!...to my nose very aldehyde nonsense. The other notes seemed "trapped" underneath, trying to come out...but what you first spray stays and stays and does not..."evolve". That pungency from whatever notes is just not for me, and sorry to say..a typical cheap scent....(sorry) I hate to use that term, but being honest.

Far Away Gold : Ok....take away that interfering note explosion from Far Away....and what's left is...Far Away Gold. The Gold version is smoother....and now the evil notes from Far Away go "underneath a little, but NOT enough to rescue this scent....another...NO !!!

Far Away Infinity: NOTHING like Far Away or Far Away Gold, to my nose...IMHO. This comes off as mainstream fruity-ish floral...very basic....we have all smelled this type of scent over and over....ect....Of these three, the ony wearable one,IMHO, is Infinity. I will re-try Gold on another day.....something still curiously draws me in still....and a a re-try for Infinity too. Still a huge big NO for original Far Away...(sorry).

Nicole79

Too sweet too powdery and musky. In the same style as kenzo Flower(which I dislike also )..Strong and long lasting. not for me .pass.

PricklyAndHot

Decided to feel again, how it smells. I used to like it, when I was a schoolpupil. Just bought it yesterday. Very vanillish!!! And peachy!

Good fragrance!

aelserafy

Far Away is basically a comforting coconut vanilla with a hint of powder. When it first came out, my mom got the whole set with the body lotion and powder. I recently got a bottle and it instantly took me back to my childhood years in the early nineties when everybody was crazy about it. I like to sniff it from time to time for old times sake but would not wear it because it's a bit passé now and tends to have that Avon vibe about it which I don't appreciate now...

manuelag

There is no Coco note on the official site. :) And, it doesn’t smell at all like cocos.

Lilium86

On me is 50% yinglang, 30% coconut and 20% talc. It's very similar to a Yinglang gel douche by Yves Rocher

Maenad1

Far Away is a strong, pervasive floriental with very good staying power. Spray it on and it will last all day. It's very distinct; nothing else smells quite like it, although there are some fragrances in the same ballpark. It's soft and powdery at the same time as being strong and aggressive. The vanilla and floral notes blend together with a dash of tropical creaminess. There is something about the way Far Away smells that reminds me a bit of scented pantyliners or toilet tissue, but I don't mean that in a negative way -- it's just very "feminine" smelling. If you spray on too much of this, it can be heady and headache inducing, and it's the type of scent I would not wear on a long car ride with the windows closed. This scent has many flankers, but I've tried most of them and I find the original to be the best and most cohesive fragrance. Even though it's inexpensive, it doesn't smell cheap and it's definitely not light or watered down. Powerful stuff.

the purple rose

This perfume is really nice if you like sweet powdery vanilla fragrances. It is very strong and lasts a long time. Very feminine and lovely 8/10.

kessyster

Like many others here commented, this perfume brings back childhood /teenage years for most of us as you can see.

I can't remember when was launched in my country but I think I was about 13 or 14 years old? Or even younger.
This one reminds me my nanny ( she use to sell Avon products) the perfumes was her favourite. This one in particular was her very favourite.
I never had a bottle back then , at least not a proper one but just those samples.
But recently I've finally bought a 100ml bottle for me. I can't wait to feel again those sweet memories ! ( the memories I have with my nanny)

Mine just arrived! I've just tried on. Is quite strong soon after spray it. I need to wait and see about the performance as been a long time I've not tried.

I believe that Far Away was hugely inspired by Chopard's Casmir, which was launched 2 years before Far Away's arrival. The coconut and floral notes are accentuated in Far Away, whereas Casmir is a very sweet balsamic vanilla.

*Migraine sufferers may need a bit precaution.

Smells to me like Britney Spears Fantasy which i was not keen on - preffered midnight fantasy.. this is not too sweet but musky . Very very vanilla ish - a tad powdery . Staying power is one of the best fumes i know .. someone always has a back draft of this.. and you just know straight away it is far away avon . 8/10

I find some notes, such as the sandalwood and amber, somewhat similar smelling to Body Fantasies Sahara Fantasy body spray, which isn't bad for a cheap body spray, but there are too many notes that don't go together in this one. Like what the heck is violet doing here? Lurking in the shadows like a dirty creep rather that shining through the way it does best in clean powdery florals. This fragrance is too murky, and violentlt clashing, cloying, and cheap like a harsh aroma chemicle soup. I think the name says it all. If you are wearing this, stay far away from me.🤢🤮

I ordered the cute Fragrance sample sizes of the Far Away Collection. It came in a very cute purple and red harlequin circular pattern that is adorable, within itself. The 3 fragrances are:

Far Away
Far Away Gold
Far Away Infinity

The first day, I prefered the Far Away Infinity because it set up immediately on my skin - and created a chord without any individual notes competing for competition. Far Away set up a bit strong, vanilla and powdery for my taste. The initial run of this - I'm not liking it near as well as the Far Away Infinity. I hate to use this term - because I'm the one that has gone on a lot of rants with this, but this smells "old lady" to me... (it does). I can't use another term, because this is the thing that immediately came to mind.

Hey, it may be my particular chemistry, I eat a lot of garlic around the holidays to fight off the cold and flu season... as well as a lot of spicy hot Mexican food. So it could just be me and my chemistry this time of the year. But this is not my pick. This needs to go back to the drawing board. You are close, but this is NOT GREAT. It needs a bit more tweaking... maybe adding some cinnamon, rose oude, or coconut.

-----------

Second and third day wearing this - by now the garlic and spicy Mexican food has probably run through my system - and I'm LOVING both the Far Away and Far Away Gold. Both of these are a bit stronger than Far Away Infinity.

Far Away now has a very warm, huggable - alluring type quality to it. It is strong still... but definitely NOT "old lady" smelling. I'm amazed at how the fragrance has changed on me, but 2-3 days from my garlic/spicy food day.

Hey, this is pretty amazing - and if people eat these types of food - they may want to have a collection of fragrances that they wear for days on this type of diet - and then days that they are NOT eating these types of foods. It makes THAT much difference! Hey, I can't believe it... but it does!

Avon - I love your collection of Rare Pearls, Rare Gold, and Rare Amethyst- too. All are great!.

such a nice fragrance. Warmth and cozyness wich last for a very long time. Definitely an oriental vanilla along with some white florals. It’s like a mixture between Alien and Hypnotic Poison. The opening is pretty chemical but after 5-10 minutes the fragrance shows its magic. In the beginning it smells very peachy along with osmanthus wich is a peach flower. The vanilla is very pungent and detectable from the first sniff on. Later on it’s getting more and more powdery and very soft. Jasmine, Gardenia and Ylang Ylang are blended in a nice balance. They smell very creamy and sensuous. Not animalic at all. The amber’s also present. It’s an oriental perfume with sweet spices, resins and balsams.

DajanaFragrance

By far the best Avon's perfume without competition. Vintage bottle, dreamy, sweet, powdery. Vanilla here smells expensive. Far Away has strong sillage and lasts for days.

Labaloo

Gardenia-vanilla-coconut flan=skin-delicious.

shelley2633

This one of my favourites. It is sweet and long lasting. Never grow tired of this unique scent.

This reminds me of my childhood - my mother had a tiny sample that she gave to me. I forgot about it over the years but repurchased a year ago. It's amazing the memories a scent triggers.....I love this - it's alluring, intoxicating, foreign, mystical, sexy....no matter where I am the smell of this takes me, well, far away. I wore a polar neck the other day I hadn't worn since last year and it STILL smelt of this lovely juice, so it has amazing staying power. Silage is great too. Gorgeous bottle that represents the fragrance precisely. Avon's best perfume by far IMO. LOVE

Do the scratch and sniff patches in magazines and Avon catalogues work? YOU BET THEY DO!!!

I just smelled this in an Avon brochure - and it was so heavenly, can't wait to try this one on my skin!

Smells Fabulous! Very dreamy - alluring, soft, feminine.
Loved the sample in the Avon catalogue!

Wow!

I received this accidentally when ordering Far Away Exotic, and though I was angrily disappointed at first, while I waited for my replacement I took a liking to the soft, feminine scent of this well known perfume. In spite of my appreciation, it hasn't been something that I actually wear and at some point a couple of weeks back I thought to give it away...but tonight I'm so glad that I opted to set it aside instead.
I had just come from a wonderful shower and washed my hair, the house was calm and quiet, and I was standing by my vanity applying oils to my skin, when I reached for a fragrance to cuddle up with for the evening (something I only rarely do. I prefer not to have on strong scents at bedtime). There are over a dozen perfumes that I rotate through regularly, but none of those were calling to me. So, on a whim, I uncapped my Far Away. I was instantly intoxicated just from the creamy dream emanating from the atomizer. I sprayed once into the palm of my left hand, brought my hands together and then rubbed them across my chest and shoulders. I'm in love, tonight, with the way I smell.
I don't know what's making it sing so beautifully on this occasion but it's giving me soft, creamy coconut, a swirl of heady flowers, and rich vanilla with a hint of clean powder. It's so sexy and decadent, without being overpowering and still managing to sit closely to my skin. I feel wrapped in this perfume like a silky slip.

Oh Damn, just oh Damn! Reminds me so much of my childhood because one of my first memories of life Is going to a church and I always smelled this here! It Is a very churchy smell,I think Is the vanilla and coconut and all those flowers that makes this perfume so unique and so good, I finally got this perfume today after years and years of smelling it and not knowing which perfume it was. STOP READING MORE COMMENTS AND WASTING YOUR TIME IN THIS PAGE AND GO AND BUY THE GOTDAMN PERFUME! >:V Believe me this Is soooooooo good :D It Is Mature, a little sweet, like warm and cozy but I smell a tropical vibe in this too, I wouldnt mind to take this with me at the Beach since it has Coconut in it.

danapink238

Very sexy and powerful scent, also very unique, it definitely stands out in a crowd.

I have a bottle of this that was gifted to my mother in the mid to late 1990's that is a little under half full. I use it sparingly because I don't know if the newer version would be different, but this one is wonderful and I love it. It's a nice and sweet, powdery vanilla wood scent that is more mature than something like Exclamation. This was my dad's favorite perfume mom would wear. Brings back happy memories of Sunday mornings when mom would gel her deep brown curls and wear a pretty color block sundress, and topped it off with a spray of Far Away. We would also listen to a Petra tape (Christian rock band) on the way to the church. The 90's may seem far away, but not when I smell this. Just like it was 1997 again..

aprilsandoval0704

Ok, I wore this one Friday when I got it and it smelled so wonderful that I may have doused myself a bit much Saturday LOL When you overspray this one it's not good! It almost reminded me of Skin so Soft with a metallic bite. So today I just sprayed once on the nape of my neck and it's back to light and powdered sugary vanilla goodness. Just a warning to anyone loving this scent enough to want to be a bit over zealous- DON'T :) A little kiss goes a long way.

EDIT- I've been wearing this all day long on the back of my neck and I can't believe how amazing the dry down is for such an inexpensive perfume! The powdered sugar has definitely warmed up into a scent that I can only compare to the candy Cowtails. There's a faint caramel note in there and any floral mix is completely gone now. LOVE IT <3

-------Editing again-this changed on me towards the end of the bottle. I've only had it a few months and loved it at first but now it's sour to my nose and I gave it to my daughter. I sprayed it once again the other day, and the same thing happened- sweet at first then very sour and nauseating. Oh well...wasn't pricey...

kismetdaisy

I smelled this on my girlfriends mom and I had mistaken the scent all night for Michael kors! Anyone else get that ?

FloatingOphelia

I never smelled this in any form but I found a vintage for sale. It smelled very unique, somehow Oriental yet tropical? Coconut, powdery, vanilla? Anyway I'm wondering if I should have bought it ad most reviewers say the older formulas are much nicer. It seems it might be strong so I think one spray would do for me. Its a scent I've always wanted to own.

dglightblue

I once ordered this years ago in the 2000's. Thoroughly disappointed.
Vanilla powder, no lasting power.
Just like (generally in my experience) a cheap celeb frag.
Meh, empty, no depth, like a body spray.

canadianpetite

Very feminine, white florals, a bit powdery. Reminds me of ladies from the thirties or forties who relished glamour and considered it a faux pax to step outside the house without face foundation, mascara, lipstick and heels. The scent has a strong presence. Predominantly, the coconut rules. The sweetness, I presume, is from the osmanthus and powdery notes i detect are probably from vanilla. Amber, though, here is too much for me so it causes a headache. Beautiful and classic but not for me at this time.

One spray on me,
Sillage: more than arm's length
Longevity: about 4 hours
Rating: 2/5

At first I didn´t like this at all but kept on using it. Suddenly I noticed that i kinda missed the full fragrance mixture of it. Now I am ordering the second time from Avon, easy cos i´m consultant of theirs. Morocco is the country where they say this fragrance comes. Haven´t been there but can imagine. Beautiful and full "cocktail."

beckysister

I used this fragrance for years, it's a warm, lasting aroma, excellent for the price you pay. However I am exploring new options, I would not buy it again, although it brings back pleasant memories.

Scentim3nt4l

A cosy, sweet, comforting classic of a fragrance. Absolutely beautiful. Very powdery and almondy with soft vanilla. Quite sharp on first application but the drydown is a dreamy, uplifting, stunning fragrance..one of avons best...lasts forever too. A absolute gem.

Stasi

I love this scent! It reminds me of my mom. However, I seem to remember it being stronger than it is now. Has Avon reformulated it?

AjaBlue

It does resemble Alien; only I like this better. It has the Alien-vibe, but it's not as one dimensional, loud, and screechy. It's more interesting on the dry-down, too. Same sex appeal, though. Great on warm nights.

snoopyQ

Ohhh! this is a letdown for me.
It is very vanilla-plasticy unfortunately. Too much vanilla for my taste and too strong.

In short not my kind of scent.

Lasts 12 hours plus with very good projection. I guess that is a huge plus if you are into that type of scents.

nadiamonte08

I love how sweet soft and powdery this is. It's so lovely! I adore body cream as it's even softer and lovely on its own. Lasts forever or perfect when layered. A fresh fragrance!

Jacquelyn1

I picked up a new bottle of this from a garage sale for $1 without trying it. Its not bad... for someone else. Not really my type of fragrance. Very feminine, powdery, sweet-ish (not overly tho).
All the things I dislike for myself.
Would be willing to trade for something in my want list if anyone in the US is interested.

ptilda

I'm sorry, but WHY would you blind buy a coconut-dominant fragrance (according to the note pyramid), if you "loath" coconut, and then give a negative review?

ronin.jose

I have and Im smelling right now the roller ball, and I don't think I got any of the notes except for vanilla... It's sweet but not too sweet like sugary, or syrupy, or gourmand. It's rather soft and I guess it's powdery... maybe it's the very faint floral note??... rose???, powdery rose??? It's hard to describe but it's really nice, feminine, it's ok... But yeah, it's soft sweet a little bit floral powdery

LadeeGee1958

This perfume is, as others have mentioned, quite strong, especially that first blast of spray. I can smell the vanilla, maybe some nutmeg or even a touch of cinnamon even...correct me if I'm wrong. IMO, this stuff kinda reminds me of a combination of Opium, Vanilla Fields,
and Bath & Body Works Cashmere Glow body spray. After it dries down, however, it softens into a very warm and sensual level that becomes very pleasant. I like it a lot. Yes, I know its Avon, but I like to keep my options open when it comes to scents.

This is one of AVON's best perfumes.I wore this so much I started to hate it haha. Very suitable for a bold lady who know what she wants. It has a strong, mysterious scent and lasts a lot.Very good for its price, can easily compete with a designer one.For those who say it's too powerful well maybe you should stop spraying like a crazy person,2 puffs are enough! I recommend this perfume, good quality for a small price <3

I love the drydown of Far Away. It smells exactly like pencil shavings on my skin, woody and dry, just love it.
Its coconutty top notes though are just dreadful, and imagine that I love coconut! Had the same reaction with Far Away Gold, its coconut opening smelled vile on me. That drydown though! Plus, Far Away can be found online for so cheap, you can't beat that!

hyperfluff

I was living in the tropics when I first came across this scent some years back, my sister had a bottle and I absolutely detested it! Fast forward a few years and I got to experience this scent again in a different part of the world during winter. And it's quite gorgeous! Rotten peaches + coconut drenched in cheap, cloying vanilla/amber was what I used to get...but in cold air it's warm, lush and embracing, very comfy and satisfying. It's a heavy scent for sure, and a little goes a long way. Now I'm getting a luscious blend of fruits, flowers and vanilla with a tropical, opulent feel. It's sensuous and womanly, but also laidback and optimistic. I'm not too crazy about coconut in perfumes, but here it works. The amber note really shines in lower temperatures and it has the right amount of powdery vanilla sweetness to keep me happy when it's cold and dreary outside. Beautiful! But definitely a cold weather scent!

cherryascotttea

Love Far Away, sweet and get far sweeter while on me for a while, and when dry sweet in a soft powdery way, not to go out anywhere too special but casual is good
