With the holiday seasons being two months away, Vans is releasing two new styles for their Holiday 2012 collection. The collection features a brogue chukka (Howell) and a brogue derby (Pritchard). Both shoes offer a casual vibe without straying away from the classic derby/chukka silhouettes.

Howell & Pritchard Features

The shoes offer an EVA footbed and a faux-heeled cupsole – this is one of those things that you have to experience in order to understand. If you’ve ever owned a pair of Vans you’ll know that they are incredibly comfortable.

The first time you slip your foot into a pair of Vans shoes you will noticed a huge improvement in comfort; each step feels soft and flexible. There’s a very distinct feeling when wearing Vans shoes. Try on a pair and you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about

Broguing Adds Class

Both Howell and Pritchard offer broguing (perforations) along the uppers and on the heel. This is an aesthetic feature seen frequently on wingtips. It’s because of this association with the wingtip that the Howell and Pritchard have that ‘classy’ vibe to them. This is great because we’re getting a dressier looking shoe with the same comfort and durability as a standard Vans skate shoe.

The sole is completely flat, with a little indent on each side – giving it an impression of a raised heel when viewed from the profile. This is another feature that dissociates the Howell & Pritchard from being categorized as ‘just another skate shoe’.

The Holiday 2012 collection offers three styles to choose from: Howell in blue, Pritchard in khaki and another version with a two-toned leather/wool combo. We hope Vans continues heading in this versatile direction, producing timeless silhouettes with Vans-style comfort. Take a closer look at the collection below.
